When I read in their pre wedding detail sheet that Maria and Nat wanted their wedding to be about "connection" I knew it was going to be a wedding day that I truly enjoyed. And I was right. Their wedding day was so very special, and what really MADE the day was the two of them. Honestly, I left the evening wishing that I knew them better, wishing I had known them longer, and wishing we could be life long friends (heh, heh, i know that sounds super cheesy), but really they are the type of people that make you a better person just for knowing them. You could tell that in every interaction with them, and from the speeches that their nearest and dearest gave about them, and from the love that poured out of every moment of the day. It really was a day all about connection, and about being crazy in love, and about having fun, and about soaking it all in. THOSE are the wedding days I wanted to document. I love to find beauty in every moment, not just the picture-perfect moments (although Maria and Nat's day was chock full of those as well), but in the real life moments, the emotion filled moments, and the full of anticipation moments.
I teared up big time a couple of times throughout their wedding day. There was just so much that was so meaningful. From the fact that Maria is the fifth generation in her family to get married in this small town Swedish church, to the laying on of hands from the ENTIRE congregation during their ceremony, to phone calls from family members who couldn't be there, to toasts that didn't leave anyone with a dry eye. It was a day that I would like to relive and photograph again and again.
And I would be remiss if I didn't gush just a bit about the amazing location we had for taking some bride and groom photos. We were a bit sad there was no glowing sunset for their portraits, but when we got to the fairytalesque path in the woods on Maria's family property, the moody light just FIT. It was magic.
Thank you so much to Maria and Nat for having me, and making me feel so welcome and cared about at your wedding. You guys are the best!
